GCDSpa.com Pink Lady Breast Cancer Awareness Line

Not only is the packaging for GCDSpa.com’s Pink Lady line cute, with each item from the line that is purchased, a portion will be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

I love that this line is available year round, unllike most other breast cancer awareness items.

This line consists of the new Pink Cupcake Lip Balm, $3 in a tube, which is described as “the flavor of vanilla and rich buttercream frosting, the subtle hint of coconut, and a smidgen of cotton candy for extra sweetness,” a Pink Lady Lip Balm, $2.75 in a pot, with “lemon, grenadine, and cream flavors” reminiscent of a Pink Lady gin cocktail, a Pink Lady Lotion, $7.50, and a Pink Lady Hand Cream, $6.95, both of which have a “sweet cranberry fragrance.”

You can also get the Pink Lady Moisturizers Gift Set, $16.95, pictured, which contains the Pink Lady Lotion, Hand Cream, and Lip Balm.

Which would you choose?

At these prices, I’d probably get the Pink Lady Gift Set and the Pink Cupcake Lip Balm, but if I could only choose one it would be the Pink Cupcake Lip Balm.

S’mores Soap Review

I got the S’mores soap from Savor back in December, after I won a gift certificate to Trendy Shoppes through a blog contest.

The S’mores soap, which doesn’t seem to be available at either site now, is actually made like a S’more, with two pieces of soap sandwiched together with a chocolate layer.

The soap has a slight chocolate smell that fills the area around my sink with a slight chocolate fragrance.

I’m currently using this as a hand soap, and I’ve noticed that I don’t feel the need to use hand lotion every time I wash my hands as I normally do.

Since the soap is sandwiched together with a layer of chocolate, I have noticed that the two layers of soap have separated and slide apart – but that might have something to do with my soap dish collecting a little too much water.

Overall, I’m very happy with the soap, except for it sliding apart – of course if I wanted to I could separate it into two pieces and make it last a little longer which would be nice.

And of course, you won’t have this problem with most of Savor’s soaps, since they come in one piece.

Ordering from Trendy Shoppes was easy, shipping was fast, and everything was packaged nicely.

I did have a problem where I thought my order didn’t go through since I ordered more than one item and paid with Paypal, but a quick email to Suzanne from Trendy Shoppes, and everything was taken care of.

Suzanne was already aware of the problem, so it was being worked on, and it should be fixed by now I would hope.

If you’ve ordered from Trendy Shoppes or Savor, I’d love to hear what you think!

Mmm…Chocolate Mint Shampoo or Body Bar

Doesn’t this Chocolate Mint shampoo or body bar, ($4) from Luxury Falls, sound delicious?

Unfortunately, I’ll have to wait a few months to try it because I’ve heard peppermint oil isn’t safe to use during pregnancy.

Got Any Bar Shampoo and Conditioner Recs for Oily Hair?

Filed under: Bath and Body,Sarah\'s Surprises — by Sarah @ 9:13 am

I’m trying to use more natural, paraban and phalate free stuff now that I’m pregnant, but I still haven’t found any shampoo and conditioner I’m willing to try.

My always oily hair is even oilier now, and it seems like most of the natural alternatives are made for normal or dry hair.

The last thing I want to do is spend a bunch of money on shampoo and conditioner that I know won’t work for me.

I’ve been thinking about trying the bar shampoo for awhile, so I figured now is as good a time as any to try it, but I am willing to try liquid shampoos and conditoners too.

Any recs would be appreciated!

Thanks.

National Bubble Bath Day

It’s National Bubble Bath Day – are you going to enjoy a bubble bath today?

I’m sure I’ll want one at the end of the day, because today is the day we’re putting in the tile in the upstairs.

Jeff says he thinks he’ll go straight for the hot tub, but it’s -10 out there now, so I don’t know if he really will.

I’m certainly not going out there when it’s this cold.

I asked how other people enjoyed their bubble baths, and this is what they had to say.

Dierdre Motley, the owner of The Blue Gecko Candle Company says

I am a self professed bubble bath addict! My favorite product is a creation I came up with to feed my bubble bath addiction! My Silky Milky Bubble Bath not only makes your skin feel luxuriously silky, the bubbles are absolutely amazing! If I need a little extra moisturizing, I like to throw in one of my cocoa butter bath melts. One bath melt and I don’t need lotion for the rest of the day (and that’s saying a lot considering I live in the dry Arizona desert!). There is absolutely nothing more relaxing then lighting a fragrant candle, dimming the lights, and luxuriating in a warm tub full of bubbles!

In honor of National Bubble Bath Day Dierdre is offering a free bath melt with every bottle of bubble bath purchased. I love how she tied the promotion into her favorite way to take a bubble bath.

I happen to have some Silky Milky Bubblel Bath lying around, and that’s probably what I’ll use in my bubble bath tonight.

Norma from Norma’s Bath and Body says:

I love taking Baths as a Soapmaker, and I highly recommend my Lusious Shower Gels to Lather up with, so relaxing, and they smell so yummy too.

Norma says her favorite fragrance is Blackberry, but she loves them all.

What’s your favorite way to relax with a bubble bath?

Do you prefer peace and quiet and a warm bath like me, or do you like candles too?

Mollycoddle Soap Interview

It’s been a while since we’ve had an etailer interview, so it’s great that Kelly from Mollycoddle Soap has agreed to be interviewed.

Kelly makes a wide variety of fun soaps – as soon as I saw the Lump O’ Coal Soap I called my mother-in-law to tell her about it, because she’s always looking for coal to give to her nieces for Christmas.

I also love the Denture Soap, and the Hot Dog and Bun Soap – with your choice of ketchup or mustard.

1. Tell us a little bit about Mollycoddle Soap.

Mollycoddle (which means to pamper yourself) Soap began when I was experimenting with glycerin soap making. I made gifts for friends and family after which I kept getting requests for them. I began selling them at craft shows and on Etsy and it’s grown from there!

2. Your tagline is “Soap Up Your Imagination,” how you have a wide variety of food, gemstone, and gag gift soaps. How did you decide to focus on nontraditional soaps?

I’ve got a quirky sense of humor and began the food soaps and false teeth soaps to leave in friends bathrooms to mystify them. Everyone got such a kick out of them that I realized I wasn’t the only one who enjoyed novelty soaps. I get a lot of requests for quirky soaps and I love experimenting to make them look as realistic as possible to the food or object I’m replicating.

3. What are your best selling soaps?

My best selling soaps are the dentures, the pickle, waffles and doughnuts. I have new creepy baby head soaps I’ve been selling on Etsy at mollycoddlesoap.etsy.com that I will soon add to the MollycoddleSoap.com lineup that are becoming very popular as well.

Thanks so much! and have a great holiday!

Thank you so much for agreeing to be interviewed Kelly, and Happy Holidays!

Pumpkin Spice – Mmm.

Since it’s the day before Thanksgiving I figured it was time to break out the Pumpkin Spice Shea Butter Ultra Lotion from Hoity Toity.

I love the lotion, and I’m really impressed with the scent strength of all the ones I’ve tried.

It’s strong enough so that I can smell it, and I can even smell the lotion after I wash my hands, but the smell isn’t too strong for me.

I’ve been using the Kiwi Lime Sherbert at home for several weeks, and I’ve got a sample of the Brown Sugar Vanilla in my purse.

They both smell delicious, they absorb quickly and they aren’t greasy at all.

Did I say they smell delicious?

PS Happy Thanksgiving!

Hoity Toity Sheer Satin Shampoo & Conditioner Review

If you’ve read my other blog you know that I’ve been using the same shampoo and conditioner (Garnier Fructis Moisture Works for dry and damaged hair) forever.

I’ve tried other shampoo’s and conditioners over the years, but they usually leave my hair oily and limp.

I’m so glad I got to try Hoity Toity Sheer Satin Shampoo and Conditioner, because they are better than the Garnier Fructis!

I’ve been using the shampoo and conditioner in Red Apple and Italian Ice since October 21.

When I’m using the shampoo it doesn’t feel as heavy as my normal shampoo does, and I don’t have to use nearly as much shampoo or conditioner as I do with the Garnier.

I’ve also noticed that my hair looks blonder, which is always a good thing :-).

As you can tell, I’m really impressed with the Hoity Toity Sheer Satin Shampoo and Conditioner, and I love the fact that I can choose from so many scents.

The Red Apple fragrance really did smell like a juicy red delicious apple, and the Italian Ice smelled like a sweet sticky lemon.

There was just enough fragrance for me – it filled the shower, but it didn’t linger in my hair.

If you’ve tried this I’d love to hear about it!

Luxurious Bath Melt Review

I tried a Cabernet Grape Parfait Luxurious Bath Melt, $4.25 for 4, from The Blue Gecko Candle Company, and it was amazing.

The scent of one melt filled up my admittedly small bathroom, and lingered in the air.

It also lingered on my skin – even after I was through with the bath.

My husband could smell the fragrance the next morning.

The bath melt also left my skin feeling so smooth!

This is definitely a great treat for someone who wants a skin smoothing bath.

Frosted Cupcakes Roll On Perfume Oil

Filed under: Bath and Body — by Sarah @ 10:14 am
Tags: , ,

The Frosted Cupcakes – Special Edition 0.35 oz Roll-on Perfume Oil, $6.50 from The Garden Bath, is a limited edition scent, which helps raise money for Donna’s future sister-in-law’s Breast Cancer 3 Day walk in Atlanta – which starts today!

Good luck to Julie who’ll be walking 20 miles today!

$3 from the sale of this perfume will be donated to Julie Levin’s fundraising campaign to benefit Susan G. Komen and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund.

I did double check since this post was going up today, and the Save the Cupcakes Items will be available until Nov. 23, which is the last day for Julie to accept donations for her walk.

Donna shares why Breast Cancer Awareness is important to her and Julie:

I have been so lucky that none of my immediate family or friends have been stricken by breast cancer. However, everyone that I know has still been touched…some have co-workers or family or friends who have fought against breast cancer. It’s frustrating to know that simply because we’re women that my mother or best friend or even I could get this terrible disease. We have to find the cause and we have to find the cure!

Julie has a great story about why she’s doing this walk on her donation page.

But here’s a brief summary:
Julie’s grandmother was diagnosed with breast & ovarian cancer 11 years before she was even born. Unable to receive treatment since she was pregnant at the time, she had to delay until after she’d given birth, but by that time the cancers had spread. Knowing that during that time in history, cancer was pretty much a death sentence, her grandmother still chose to take every experimental cancer treatment that they had to offer. Her grandmother knew that she couldn’t be saved, but she fought for 22 years – living through terrible pain & treatment side effects – hoping that some day the data gained by those experimental treatments would help future generations of women. She was a true hero and inspired Julie to be the person she is today!

I’m truly inspired by Julie doing this 3-day, 60 mile walk to help raise funds so we can finally find a cure! She’s already walking as I’m typing this, so keep her in your thoughts – it’s going to be a tough 3 days, but nothing compared to living with and fighting breast cancer!

Thank you Donna and Julie!

The Garden Bath also has several other Save the Cupcakes items if perfume oil isn’t your thing – and you can always donate to Julie directly on her fundraising page.
